Genomic Diversity Facility LIMS(Retired)User Guide

Overview

Welcome to the Genetic Diversity Facility's Lab Information and Management System (LIMS)!

This website was designed to streamline the process of initiating projects and submitting samples. The LIMS is used for creating projects, submitting PO numbers or signed service agreements, submitting DNA samples, tracking project status, receiving data and communicating with the team. These functions are available through your user menu, which can be accessed from the top menu by selecting User:[user@domain].

Please take a few minutes to review our user guides and explore the features of the user menu, where you will find information on how to initiate a project, submit samples, and navigate workflows.  Information on our current pricing can be found here:  http://www.biotech.cornell.edu/brc/genomic-diversity-facility/resources/pricing.  If you have any questions, we are just a message away in conversations! Thank you for registering with our LIMS and we look forward to learning more about your project.

From the user menu, you can:

1. Check your Account Profile, where you can view your user Profile. You can update profile details by clicking the link to the Institute of Biotechnology account management page.

2. Initiate a conversation. Conversations are the LIMS’ internal messaging system that allows you to communicate with the team. You can initiate a message at any time by clicking on “New Conversation.” You can also attach up to five files or images per message by clicking the “Attach” button at the bottom of the page.

3. Check on your current projects using the Projects menu, where you will find a list of all projects that you have created. You can also create a new project here.  To create a project, click the “New project” button. To view an existing project, click on the projects name from this list.

4. You can view a list of all plates you have created in the Plates menu. This list will include plates from all projects that you have initiated with us.

5. The Data Files menu contains links to available DNA sequence data for your project(s).

6. You can change your password; the Change Password option will take you the Institute of Biotechnology customer registration page to reset your password. After entering your email address, a confirmation message containing a link to reset your password will be issued. Please note that the password reset link is time-sensitive.
